The IAEA Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship Programme (MSCFP) aim is to support and inspire young women pursuing careers in nuclear science, technology, safety, security, and non-proliferation.

The IAEA Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship Programme (MSCFP) seeks to inspire and support young women to pursue a career in the nuclear field. To that end, the MSCFP provides scholarships to selected students studying towards a master’s degree in nuclear-related subjects as well as limited internship opportunities facilitated by the IAEA.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the MSCFP, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Gender: Female.
  • Nationality: Citizen of an IAEA Member State.
  • Academic Enrollment: Must be accepted into or already enrolled in an accredited university Master’s program in a nuclear-related field.
  • Academic Standing: Preference is given to applicants demonstrating above-average academic performance (typically 75%+ or GPA > 3.0 on a 4.0 scale).

Eligible Fields of Study

The fellowship covers Master’s programs focused on nuclear applications, including:

  • Nuclear Engineering
  • Nuclear Physics & Chemistry
  • Nuclear Medicine & Radiation Biology
  • Isotopic Techniques
  • Nuclear Safety & Security
  • Environmental Radioactivity & Water Resource Management (involving isotopic hydrology)
  • Nuclear Law & Non-Proliferation

Required Application Documents

All documents must be submitted in English (or accompanied by an official English translation) via the IAEA online portal:

  1. Proof of Identity: Copy of Passport or National ID.
  2. Admission Letter: Official university acceptance or enrollment letter specifying the program and duration.
  3. Fee Breakdown: Official statement/confirmation of university tuition costs.
  4. Reference Letters: Completed reference templates submitted directly by referees (1 mandatory, 2 preferred).
  5. Funding Declaration: Documentation of any existing scholarships or financial aid.

Selection Criteria

Applications are evaluated by the IAEA MSCFP Technical Selection Committee based on:

  • Educational background and prior achievements
  • Personal statement/motivation and intended career path
  • Alignment with public service goals and the peaceful uses of nuclear technology
  • Diversity factors (geographic, field of study, and linguistic background)
