University Background

Tumaini University, Iringa University College, which began as Iringa Lutheran College and Seminary, was established in 1995. It began offering University Certificate, Diploma, and Degree programs in 1997. For eighteen years, it was known as University College, and it was Tanzania’s first private university. Graduates of this university have gone on to become notable figures in the Lutheran ministry, law, and business throughout the country. Tumaini is also strongly represented in national Ministries of Education, the Arts, and others. Tumaini graduates are highly valued in Tanzanian industry. Many have gone on to pursue post-graduate degrees in Europe, America, and other African countries, and are making a name for themselves on a global scale. Iringa University College became the full-fledged University of Iringa on October 25, 2013. (UoI). The University comprises six departments/faculties, each of which provides a variety of programmes of study, including certificates, diplomas, bachelor’s degrees, and post-graduate degrees. It is run by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania. The University has a highly skilled and experienced academic faculty from Tanzania and other nations around the world. It has close ties and backing from the United States, Finland, Germany, and a number of other international countries.
