In light of the nation’s increased economic performance brought about by the efforts of its people, President Samia Suluhu Hassan announced a 35.1 percent rise in the minimum pay for public employees.
During Thursday’s national May Day celebrations, President Hassan stated that the minimum monthly pay will increase from Sh370,000 to Sh500,000 starting in July of this year.
With applause from the audience, the Head of State declared, “I am happy to announce that the government will increase the minimum wage for public servants by 35.1 percent in recognition of your hard work and commitment to national development—even at a time when we asked you to tighten your belts.”
